This post is more a review of Atomkeep rather than advise. I plan on talking a lot more about social media and web 2.0 projects here at FreshySEO moving forward, so I hope you enjoy this type of content.
Atomkeep was recommended by a friend of mine, and being the social networking junkie that I am, I had to give it a try. I was sold on the idea that it creates a single profile using data from your social networks and various online profiles.
The Pro’s:
Atomkeep has a kick ass interface. Everything loads within the page, so you never have to refresh to make changes or edits. It’s a fairly fast site as well, so you don’t spend too much time waiting around.
Atomkeep pulls data from multiple profiles and generates one profile based on the content contained in all of your profiles. My profile, for example, now contains data from my Facebook profile as well as my LinkedIn profile. So my Atomkeep profile knows that I am a Libertarian looking to network and that I work and live in Chicago. All of this can be seen in my Atomkeep profile located here.
When importing data, you’re given three options. You can either import all data from an external profile and have it overwrite all fields in your atomkeep profile, you can import data and have it merge with your atomkeep profile, or you can choose not to import anything when adding a new account.
Atomkeep also generates a web badge, that allows you to display your profile and connected networks. This feature is somewhat lacking, however, because retagger does far more by creating an virtual business card.
Cons:
For a site that pitches the idea of managing your online profiles, Atomkeep only allows me to manage about 25% of mine. There is no option for Pownce, Friendfeed, Plurk, Wordpress, blogs, or many of my other online networks. Atomkeep simply aggregates the profiles that I use the least. Well, with the exception of Twitter anyway.
Also, I had a hard time adding my LinkedIn profile. The system continually denied that I was using the correct login, even though I was copying and pasting it directly from LinkedIn. I typed it in, and I copied it in.. both methods failed. It wasn’t until I logged out and then logged back in that it would let me add LinkedIn to my accounts.
Pass or Fail?
My first thought was to fail Atomkeep simply because it was lacking in network availability and it gave me problems setting up LinkedIn. But, the more I look into the system, the more I like it. I like the idea of mashing up all of my profiles and creating one from the data pulled out of all of them. And while it might be lacking right now, I think it has huge potential and will likely come around sooner rather than later.
Pass.

My name is Alex and I’m one of the founders of Atomkeep. Thanks for trusting in us. We are doing our best to add more networks, however, sometimes, it’s all just about time.
“Pownce, Friendfeed, Plurk, Wordpress, blogs, or many of my other online networks…”
I’ll let my guys know that we want to get Wordpress as soon as possible.
Friendfeed doesn’t have profile, does it? You can send me the list of networks that you want to see and I’ll pass it to our development team. They will try to prioritize it properly though.
We also have a new service in development that will add more value for our users and, hopefully, will solve the problem of “waiting, while the new systems getting added”.
Thanks for your feedback!
Thank you for the review, Eric.
We (at Atomkeep.com) are very glad to receive all and any feedback - “cons” part is always the most important, because it helps us to improve. You cannot really build something with the people’s input, and we value it more than anything else.
I personally will do my best to move up systems of your choice on our priority list of future supported systems - but we are getting really a lot of requests for new ones, and trying to fulfill everybody’s expectations.
We started http://www.atomkeep.com keeping in mind our own needs, but now we really can expand and make them better for more users.
Thanks again!
I don\’t normally leave comments… but I really enjoyed your post! I will be leaving a link back here in my blogroll! Thanks!
