5 Sites to Learn Internet Marketing

By Justin | Jun 3, 2008

The Internet Marketing & Make Money Online niches are plagued with blogs that rehash old content or try to sale you products that are worthless. The MMO niche reminds me of the real estate info commercials you see on T.V. late at night. It is really difficult to know who to trust and who is producing legit content. The following five blogs are sites that I’ve come to enjoy and trust. I consider them all “must read” blogs for anyone interested in internet marketing or making money online.

  1. Courtney Tuttle - This is the first M.M.O. / I.M. site I found. Court is a great guy and has a wealth of helpful posts that will help anyone get started in this business. I suggest that you read Court’s posts on Keyword Sniping. He outlines a good method of developing niche blogs and ranking them. He even has a 3 month long case study to show you step by step how to rank a niche site. Courtney Tuttle ranks on page one on Google for Internet Marketing and seems to really know his stuff.
  2. Blogger Unleashed - Eric made a post about this site yesterday. The blog is the home of the infamous Vic. Vic is a Black Hat SEO / Internet Marketer who has gone legit. His goal was to mix things up in the MMO niche and I think he’s done a great job. Be warned though, this site is not for the weak. Vic is outspoken and doesn’t mind using foul language. He’s quick to single people out and rip them apart. You either love or hate this guy. Either way though, he’s entertaining and he knows his stuff. He’s floating around page 1 or page 2 for Make Money Online and pulled that off in 5 to 6 months (not bad). The real gem at this blog is the live chats which are hosted late at night and he interacts with his visitors. He answers questions and helps with people’s individual projects. On the the surface this guy may seem like an ass, but he’s actually a really nice guy who works hard to help his visitors out. If you can look past the political correctness, you can learn a lot from this guy.
  3. Grizz - When you visit this guy’s site, you’re going to think I’m full of crap. Its the ugliest looking MMO blog on the net. It is hosted on blogspot and uses the default theme. Guess what though, this guy ranks #5 for Make Money Online and does it with a blogspot blog. This site has a wealth of information on blogging (specifically with blogger/blogspot blogs), SEO, and MMO. He covers everything from onsite SEO, to link building, to adsense. This ugly looking site is worth a good read. I’d suggest reading the whole thing.
  4. SEOMoz - If you’re into SEO and don’t know what this site is, than you need to get over there quick. SEOMoz is one of the authorities in the SEO field and they know their stuff. They have a wealth of information for beginners and advanced SEO’s. I am personally a premium member over at SEOMoz. I really like Rand’s whiteboard Fridays.
  5. Slightly Shady SEO - A blog I started reading recently. This blog is mix of gray and black hat SEO. It doesn’t go too deep into the really nasty SEO, but has a lot of information that a white hat can use to gain an edge. He has creative and thoughtful posts on practical and theoretical SEO. The content here is a little more high level than you’ll find at most sites. Once you’ve read Court, Vic, and Grizz front to back, check out this site.

These are all great sites with a wealth of information. I’d suggest starting with Court, Griz, and Vic. They’ll help teach you the basics of internet marketing, SEO, monetization. Then move on to SEOMoz to expand your SEO knowledge to get better results. And if you want to push the bar, check out Slightly Shady SEO.

I’m a bit biased but nice list! Thanks for the kind words - I work hard at creating ugly blogs so it’s nice to be recognized for my efforts. lol

Seriously thanks for the nod Justin and good luck with your sites. (btw - the comments aren’t working on SEOZombie - tried to leave you one earlier.)

    Thanks again.

    Hey Griz!
    Thanks for dropping by =P

Sorry for my broken comments. I can’t figure out the comment issue on my site (its activated). I’ll mess with it later.

Well to give an idea of legit these guys are. My first keyword sniping site was set up 3 months ago. I followed all of Court’s advice. That one site makes me $200/month and takes about 2 posts a week to maintain. I use affiliates because I haven’t mastered adsense yet.

    Good one Justin!

This info is really invaluable for the student blogger. I just wish I had the benefit of it 3 months ago when I started to get serious about my Blogs. Would have saved me reading a lot of misguided ‘help’.

Just distilling the essence of Grizzly’s Makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com and Court’s Internet Marketing School is enough to set a fire going under any hopeful blogger.
