Freshy SEO is now five days old and all of my main pages are indexed. Google is also crawling the site several times a day and things are on the right track from an SEO standpoint.
So, now that I’ve established that my site is up and running, and I’m ready to start rocking out some good SEO related content, I feel I should probably get busy with SEO for the blog.
Time for an SEO overhaul!
I plan on ironing out all of the SEO work for this site in several phases, all of which I will document here via the blog. The first of these phases is a simple round of SEO Wordpress Plugins.
The following is a list of the SEO plugins that I plan on starting out with.
-Google Sitemaps Generator
This plugin is one of the most important, in my opinion, because it lets the search engines know of changes to any of your URLs. The XML-Sitemap format is supported by Ask.com, Google, Yahoo and MSN.
-Head Meta Description
This plugin generates a head meta description for you. Why is this important? A lot of search engines will display your meta description in the SERPs (search engine results pages), so you want users who are searching to find your result to be the most relevant, in turn raising the chances of your result being clicked by the user.
-Related Posts Plugin
This plugin is great for keeping the search engines busy munching your content. Plus, it helps make your post pages a lot more sticky in that readers might bounce around and visit more of your site.
I’ll be implementing these plugins today, so hopefully you’ll see the changes take effect by tomorrow morning.

I didn’t have any luck with the related tags link. Is there another place to find it?

Odd… it’s down for me as well. I’ll see if I can find an alternative link.
APH, I fixed the link to reflect the new URL. Thanks for pointing that out!
Nice blog you got started here!
Maybe you can answer quick question for me. Looking at your suggested plugin for the head meta description… I have been told in the past that once you get a blog up and running for a few months, that you should never mess with the META information because it will cost you in the SERPS.
1) do you know if this was good or bad information
and
2) would you advise adding the meta plugin to blogs that already have a few months in the archives?
i use the all in one seo pack plugin on all my blogs and i have been happy with it, but not so happy i would not look to change things around a bit
thanks if you have time to respond

Michael, great blog you have yourself! I just become one of your most recent subscribers.
I’ll address both questions in a post on BloggingTips.com tomorrow.
